Nowadays, you can find almost, if not everything you need online. A quick simple search on Google will pull out thousands of results you can therefore rummage through to find exactly what it is you need. Why should horses be any different? You should be able to find horses for sale online right?
Well, yes you are right. In the past couple of years more and more websites that allow you to buy or sell horses online have been popping up on the internet. Actually, I think it is now difficult to determine which websites to sell your horses on, because of the wide selection now available.
Don’t despair, there is a way to choose which websites to use. These horse selling websites are commonly known as horse classifieds and all employ different models and systems. There are some that allow you to post free ads with free photos, some ask you to post free text ads with paid photos and some just ask you to pay for your ad upfront with the photos already included.
If you are a buyer and are looking to deal with serious sellers only, I would recommend you stick to the horse classifieds that ask the seller to pay upfront for the ads and the photos too. If on the other hand you are willing to risk dealing with some amateur sellers then you can indeed look for horses for sale on the free horse classified websites.
Here are 3 places you can find horses for sale online…
1. Equine.com – They allow free text ads. If the seller wants to include photos or any other features there are different packages they can select, depending on what they need.
2. HorseTopia.com – They allow free text classifieds. If the seller wants to include photos they have to pay an extra fee.
3. EquineHits.com – They allow free photo classifieds. A seller is required to register and create an account before listing their horse for sale.
There are definitely more places you can go to look for horses for sale online but the websites above are the classifieds that seem to get more traffic and also more new horses listed every single day. Whatever horse breed you are looking for, should be available as well as many other breeds you never knew existed.

I live in Alberta, Canada, and I can tell you there are plenty of well bred, well trained horses for sale here. You didn't mention your breed and price range, so obviously that will make a difference. If you have the money, you can find a good horse here! But while horse prices are slightly down, they still are much higher than in the States, so don't expect to find the perfect deals like you would there.
Go onto Northernhorse.com and look at their site. It is a website that has a large classified section, and the horses are almost all in Western Canada. AQHA and APHA are the majority of horses there, but they do have Arabs, ponies, Thoroughbreds and other breeds as well. If you don't do well on the classified section there, go into their breeder section. There are several hundred various breeders listed and links to their websites – you can find everything from horses bred and trained for cutting, to hunter/jumpers, to top breed show winners.
Your next best bet is to talk to a good trainer. I could refer you to APHA/AQHA trainers in B.C. but not to other breeds. Simply find your breeds local club and ask them for contacts of trainers in the area, they will point you in the right direction.
I would say that the average price of show horses is down somewhat right now. A few years ago a young broke show horse with an average win record went for $8000 to $12000. Now the price is more like $6500 to $10,000. So you won't be given a show horse for free, but it is somewhat more reasonable.
Good luck and happy shopping.
awesome stuff man,….ama practice hard to get to yo level!
i use photoshop
agdirect.com
equine.com
dreamhorse.com
horseutopia.com
cragslist.com
Those are the main sites- there will be a billion more, but the other ones usually cater to a specific area, or only have a small number of postings.
I'm not sure if this horse in your area but I found one for you and it is on equinehits.com and it is a bay, 15 hands, 5 yrs. old and it's in Chicago. If you go under name search on the website and type in "Manchester Moulin Rouge" it should show you all the info. Good luck!
*sorry, they didn't put a picture*
Oh yah and equine.com is pretty good, too!
THE best type of photo to sell a horse with, I think, is a decent conformation shot from the side. The horse should at least be mud-free. If possible in the summer, give it a bath first or pull its mane or something, but when the horse is covered in mud, you know they didn't even try. Brush the horse first. The horse should be standing on level ground, preferably on concrete or dirt so the grass doesn't block his hooves. If the horse is standing on a hill, it can make the horse look all sorts of screwed up when it's really not. Also, take care to not have junk and clutter in the background… if there are old car parts, lawn chairs, or a barbed wire fence in the background – yuck. It doesn't have to be the most gorgeous scenery ever, but no junk. If you can get the horse standing next to the barn wall, that's a nice clean non-distracting background.
If the person is going to post more than one picture, you can shoot the horse from the front and from behind, standing. Look at the horse and see if he's standing square, first, though… if he is standing like a duck, people will think he toes out. If he really does toe out, then fine, you're not misrepresenting him, but if he really does have good straight legs, make sure you move him around until he's standing well before taking the shot.
If the horse has a job, you can take a shot of him being ridden too… I ride hunters, so I'm always looking at hunter ads, and I just look for a horse basically doing a nice job… a shot that looks calm and normal. Some people put up pictures where you can tell the horse was running like a bat-out-of-hell with the rider clinging for dear life as the horse rockets off the ground from some huge distance, or photos where you can tell the horse is popping over from a super short distance, and i mean, come on, they can get a better shot than that.
another photography tip… shooting on an overcast day is good because then there won't be any harsh shadows on the horse, which can play tricks with your eye and create faults where there really aren't any. You can't control the weather, though, so at least try to have the sun at your back when you shoot the horse, and look first to see if there are any shadows that might make him look bad that you can fix by repositioning him.
Edited to ad: I totally agree with someone above. A lot of times the person pictured riding the horse in the ad is in shorts and tennis shoes with some hideous old tshirt on and no helmet and they don't even have their feet in the stirrups. Show clothes are nice, or at least, the rider should look neat and tidy in proper schooling attire.
I would look at your local rescues.Because the ex racers end up in them alot and they make great jumpers.

http://www.equine.com actually has a section for FREE horses.
I would suggest a free lease, so when you are done with the horse you can give it back to the owner, rather than have to find it a new home.
Since you have had horses in the past, or currently have them, you already know that the purchase price is nothing compared to the cost of upkeep.
I spend about $3000 per year, per horse, for vet, farrier and feed, and I get most of the services for less because of quantity discounts..
HOLY CRAP! Comparing this to the original picture, they’re identical!
